Ubi caritas (18)
James Biery
9th Century Latin

Ubi caritas, caritas est vera, Deus ibi est,
Exsultemus et in ipso jecundemur.
Timeadmus et amemus Deum vivum.
Et ex corde diligamus nos sincero.
Simul ergo com in unum congregamur:
Ne nos mente dividamur, caveamus.
Cessent jurgia maligna, cessent lites.
Et in medio nostri sit Christus Deus.
Simil quoque com beatis videamus,
Glorianter vultum tuum,
Christe Deus: Gaudiu, quod est immensum, atque probum,
Saecula per infinita saeculorum, Amen.

The love of Christ has gathered us into one.
Let us rejoice and be glad in Christ.
Let us fear and love the living God.
And Care for one another with sincere hearts.
So when we gather as one,
We must take care not to be divided in mind.
Let petty quarrels end, let bickering cease,
And let Christ our God be in our midst.
So, too, in the company of the saints, let us see
Your face in glory, Christ our God—
Joy that is limitless and pure
Through endless ages, Amen.
